한국 건설문화의 특성 및 혁신 방향

  This study is to survey the culture of the korean construction industry during the compressive-high growth periods after 1960s.<BR>  Construction industry culture means the entire things of consciousness and behaviour which all the construction workers acquire and accumulate, and the outputs they produce. Construction culture contains three categories ; the consciousness of the workers in common, the laws and the regulations of construction industry, and the characteristics of buildings and facilities.<BR>  The culture of the korean construction industry is composed of three kinds of factors. First, construction culture is under the influence of the typical korean society culture, which is the high level one. Second, the characteristics of construction industry as itself consists of construction culture. Third, the "Can Do Culture" of HYUNDAI CONSTRUCTION Corp. gave impact on the construction industry level culture.<BR>  Six kinds of characteristics are suggested as the representative culture of the korean construction industry. First, korean construction industry has the culture of vertical master and servant relationship based on the multi-step production system Second, the private relation culture between the concerned parties prevails in korean construction industry. Third, exclusive egalitarianism dominates the consciousness and behavior of construction enterprises. Fourth, outcome oriented challenge culture has been the symbolic one in korean construction industry. Fifth, korean construction industry has excessive laws and the regulations of which the stating point is license system Sixth, monotonous and degraded buildings and facilities also represent korean construction culture.<BR>  The culture of the korean construction industry had maintained stable situation until 1980s. But, the rapid change of construction industry environment from 1990s, including the opening of construction market, the shortage of construction labor, the construction related disaster, and the IMF financing crisis, has evoked the traditional culture to change. However, there is no firm belief that new emerging culture has substituted the existing six kinds of cultures entirely.<BR>  The culture of the korean construction industry should be renovated. Because it induces trust related problems. Construction culture plays the role of the social capital, which is very important to the development of construction industry from now on. To reform the existing construction culture, the spontaneous and initiative renovation of public orderers needed firstly. The renovation of public orderers have an impact on the culture of construction industry extensively.
