부부의 결혼만족도와 관련 요인 연구: 가족주의가치를 중심으로 = The Couples's Marital Satisfaction and Related Variables with Special Reference to Familism

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between couples' marital satisfaction and related variables, with special reference to familism.
The subjects of this study were 620 couples who live in Seoul or the province of Kyungki-Do. The structured questionnaires, a separate one for the husband and another one for the wife, had been collected between May and July, 1994. Based on the couple data, statistical techniques such as frequency, percent, mean, pairs t-test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis were used to examine the research questions of this study.
The major findings are as follows : 1) The level of couples' satisfaction is higher than average. But, husbands are more satisfied with their marriage than their wives. 2) The level of couples' familism is lower than average. But, husbands support traditional familism more strongly than their wives. 3) The couples' marital satisfactions are influenced by children, education, wife's job, and husband's familism. The wives' marital satisfactions are influenced in a negative way by their husbands' traditional familism.
This study suggests that our society need humanistic norm beyond traditional familism so we can increase the quality of marriage.
