Let me give my views. I am focusing on "how much the cavalry are skilled in riding horse" rather than "what kind of equipments do they have." Equipping good armor and weapon is of no use if they are not good at riding horse. The equipments can be rather burden due to its weights. Let us think of a example; A nomad who has been riding horses since in his childhood, as growing up in nomadic tribe. A scholar who is being trained during short-term having been grew in cultivated region. The former is real "nomad cavalry", and me latter is just a "infantry" who can ride a horse. It means that the latter can use horses only for as a means of transportation. "Riding horse" is not as same as "using weapons in riding horse." Indeed it is effective that putting on armor gives resistibility and also makes horse and rider more safety. Armored cavalry takes the lead when light cavalry attack the enemy infantries together. In this situation, Armored cavalry takes the role of shield, it also raise survival rates of light cavalry. But armored cavalry was not the best form of force; it arranged when me skill of riding archery weakens armored cavalry also are able to shoot an arrow. Their shooting, however, is very bad because they are not well-practiced riders. So they used very plain tactic: onrushing to enemy to be formed in line, putting behind the arrows. There were no choice without direct battle because they are not good at shooting arrows so much as nomads. Armored cavalry is defenseless at the enemy's arrow shooting. Naturally the thickness of armory grows due to fear of arrow. It means that they admit by themselves the lack of confidence about horsemanship. We have been overestimating of Armored cavalry. Nomads can shoot arrows well with riding horses, but not for the argicultural people. Tons of training should be required for hitting the mark well on rocking horse; riding from babies, scampering well at the age of ten and practicing at least 10 years after ten. It means, for well-riding, people must ride a horse day in and day out. There aren't any picture of using arrows by armored cavalry at murals from koguryo's tomb. It tells something pregnant point to us.
