Reading discussion is an interaction among readers in which they exchange views about what they read. This session provides a teacher with plenty of information in the light that it enables the teacher to examine closely all the processes of reading among students. However, since a teacher alone cannot observe the entire processes of all group discussions under the given condition of classroom, this study suggests web-based reading discussion approach. The author analyzed interactions among students who participated in reading discussion by means of webboard. The types of their conversations during the discussion were divided largely into: unconditional favorable or critic ones; analytical ones concerning texts from the viewpoint of writing assessment; and two-way ones focused on the given subject. Based on the characteristics of these types of conversations, the reactions of students were characterized and closely examined. Especially, focused on those who participated actively in this activity, the phases of their reactions were analyzed depending on the given situation of conversation and over time.
