데카르트들 : 생명론에 대한 20세기의 도전과 몇 가지 전망 = Descarteses: The Challenges Against His Theory of Life During Twentieth Century and Some Prospects

국문 초록 (Abstract)

나는 데카르트의 생명론에 대한 베르그손, 다마지오, 데닛의 견해를 분석하고 평가해 데카르트의 과학이 의지의 생리학, 탈신비주의 등을 지향하는 의미를 지닌다고 논증했다. 첫째, 데카르트의 생명론은 베르그손이 비판하고 데닛과 다마지오가 옹호하는 생리 환원주의의 특징을 지닌다. 데카르트는 동물과 인간 몸의 움직임과 인간 정신의 정념을 동물 정기로 설명할 뿐 아니라 동물 정기와 솔방울 샘이 합작해 정신을 움직일 수 있다고 주장한다. 그러나 데카르트는 인간의 의지를 생성하는 것은 정신이며 의지가 동물 정기와 솔방울 샘을 움직일 수 있다고 주장한다. 현대 생리학은 데카르트가 철학 영역에 남겨놓은 의지의 생리학에 도전할 것이다. 둘째, 데카르트는 생리학에서 신비주의의 요소를 철저히 제거한다. 하비의 생리학에서 신비한 성질을 지닌 피나 동물 정기가 데카르트의 생리학에서는 철저히 물체의 성질을 지닌다. 데카르트의 생명론이 지닌 탈신비주의는 무신론으로 확장될 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this paper I shall analyze the opinions of H. Bergson, D. Dannett, and A Damasio on Descartes’ theory of life and argue that Cartesian science can aim at the physiology of the will and the anti-occultism Descartes’ theory of life has a feature of the physiological reductionism to which Bergson responds negatively but Dennett and Damasio do positively. Descartes explains the motions of animals and human bodies by animal spirits. Also, he states that animal spirits and the pineral grand can move human soul. But, he said that it is the soul which can generate the human will and it could move animal spirits and the grand I think that the physiologists are going to try to find the principles of a physiology of the will. Descartes eliminated the elements of occultism from physiology. In his physiology bloods and animal spirits are not occult such as in W. Harvey’s physiology but completely corporeal. I think that the anti-occultism of Descartes’ 3theory of life can be extended to the atheism.
