여성주의 윤리 시각에서 본 여성의 모성 = Women's Motherhood from the Perspective of Feminist Ethics

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 기존의 모성(motherhood) 이데올로기나 모성적 신화 등 구성된(제도화된) 모성 논의와 다른 차원에서 여성의 몸의 경험으로서의 모성 실천이 가진 함의를 추론하는 것(reasoning)을 목표로 한다. 즉 여성 몸의 생물학적 경험인 모성이 본질주의(essentialism)로 비판됨에도 불구하고 모성 경험의 자질들은 여성성(femininity)의 새로운 해석을 통해 모성의 사회성을 배태하고 있음을 주장한다. 이러한 문제의식은 여성과 남성의 서로 다른 도덕성에 주목하는 여성주의 윤리(Feminist Ethic)의 시각에서 여성들의 도덕성이 관계의 원리에 근거한 돌봄의 윤리(ethic of care)와 맞닿아 있다는 점에서 출발한다.
지금까지 여성성은 젠더적 차원에서 여성적 특성으로 간주되어 사회적으로 평가절하되어 왔으며 더욱이 페미니스트들 내부에서도 여성주의 전략으로 고려되지 못했다. 이 글에서 여성성에 대한 비판적 재고와 모성의 사회성 추론은 근대의 남성중심주의적 질서 비판과 남녀의 동등함 및 새로운 사회질서의 수립을 위한 재해석의 동기를 부여하는 지점으로 제시된다.
여성 경험으로서 모성에 대한 여성주의 전략은 모성적 실천의 잠재적 가능성을 관계적 자아로서의 모-자녀의 관계성(mother-children relationship)을 사회 정치적 차원에서 사회적 연대를 위한 기반으로 확장할 것을 주장한다. 이는 트론토(Tronto)가 주장한 것처럼 여성의 모성적 실천이 갖는 여성의 도덕성(women's morality) 논의가 이제 돌봄의 윤리(care ethic)로 이동해야 하며, 이러한 여성의 도덕성 전략은 정치적 경제적 문화적 제도에서의 정치 의제화 하는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research purports to carry out a reasoning that reveals the implications of the practice of motherhood as women' bodily experience. Although motherhood, which is a biological experience of a woman's body, is criticized by essentialism, the social dimension of motherhood can be revealed by a new interpretation of femininity.
Up to now, femininity has been socially underestimated from the gender perspective that considers it as a feminine characteristic. Moreover, feminists have not espoused femininity for feminist strategy. In this paper, a critical reconsideration of femininity and the reasoning on the social dimension of motherhood provide the motivation for reinterpretation to criticize the mencentered order of the modern era, restore gender equality, and establish a new social order.
The feminist strategy that centers on motherhood as women's experience argues that the potentials of motherhood practice and the relational women's identity rooted in mother-children relationship can be expanded into the foundation for a social alliance at the socio-political dimension.
