This study was an attempt to examine the effect of mobile telephone in regard to mobile telephone addiction. The study tried to find some of the psychological variables that are associated with the concept of addiction, including, loneliness and need for cognition.
Using correlations and regression analyses, the study found that loneliness and habit/pass time were the strongest predictors of mobile phone addiction in Korea's college students. Interpretations of the findings, and implications for understanding the social impact of mobile phones are discussed.
