This study investigated the connections between reading and personality. and then proposed the method of reading instruction for personality development. Personality is composed of mind and character. It has been believed that reading has power of education for a long time. And it has been made account of reading because reading has an effect on learner``s personality. There are four ways that reading influences on learner``s personality : reading plays a role in changing learner``s mind. enhancing learner``s emotion. internalizing the value, and developing learner``s morality. Book club activity allows opportunities of pleasant reading experiences. interactton with knowledgeable others. and discussion. These facilitate learner``s development of self. of meanings. and of higher-order. literate thinking. That is. book club activity supports some aspects of the learner``s personality. The thematic approach is alternative to reading-skill approach. The theme­centered .reading groups materials around a common theme that may be investigated in depth by students. It helps young adults learn to readtng skills. and encourage them to think various values. The respond-based readtng focuses on response throughout the reading process as well as after completing the reading. It has need to reader``s efferent stance. Approaching from an aesthetic stance. the reader is seeking a more emotional experience. and reflecting on himself. Some sugestions and research ideas were provided for an advanced research on this field.
