그림책의 역사, 그리고 현대문학이론과 기호학적 관점에서의 그림책의 커뮤니케이션 분석 = The History of The Picture Book, and Its Communication Analysis

국문 초록 (Abstract)

그림책은 어린이들에게 스토리를 전달하기 위해 문어(文語)적 텍스트와 시각(視覺)적 텍스트로 구성된 책으로서, 시각적 텍스트 특히 일러스트레이션은 문어적 텍스트의 파트너로서 이와 동등한 관계를 유지하거나 우위적인 역할을 한다. 또한, 그림책에 있어서 이 두 요소는 상호 문맥 의존 지시적인 관계(indexical relationship)를 형성하고 있다. 단어들과 같은 문어(文語)의 지시대상은 일러스트레이션과 같은 시각 언어를 문맥적으로 지시하며, 반대의 경우도 동일하게 형성된다. 일반적으로, 그림책은 그 전체가 문어적 텍스트와 시각적 텍스트가 결합하여 생성된 하나의 통합(統合) 텍스트인 아이코노텍스트이며 독자적인 예술 형식이다. 그림책의 문어(文語)적 텍스트와 시각적 텍스트 그리고 아이코노텍스트로서의 그림책은 기호학적인 용어로 분석되어 질 수 있고, 그림책을 읽는다는 것은 이 세 가지 텍스트를 기호로 해석하는 것이다. 기호로서의 그림책은 특정 문화와 작가의 관점과 독자의 반응에 의해 그 해석이 달라지는 복잡한 커뮤니케이션 형식이다. 따라서, 여러 문화권의 그림책 주제와 컨셉을 시대적 흐름을 통해서 연구하는 것과, 현대문학이론과 기호학적 관점으로 그림책을 읽는 것은 그림책의 다양한 기호를 해석하고 커뮤니케이션을 이해하는 최적의 해결책을 제공한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A picture book consists of the verbal and the visual text to tell the story for children. And it is a book in which the visual text especially an illustration serves as a parter to the verbal text or plays a significant role. There is also an indexical relationship between the two media: in it, the verbal language, like words, is referring to the visual language, like illustrations, and the other way around. In common, a picture book taken as a whole, is an integrated text, an iconotext, where the verbal text and the visual text are woven into one entity. And it is a unique art form. The verbal and the visual text in a picture book and a picture book itself as an iconotext can be described in semiotic terms. Reading a picture book is interpreting these three kinds of texts as a sign. Interpretation of a picture book is dependent upon specific cultures and creators' vision and readers' response. A Picture book is a complex form of communication. Therefore researching themes and concepts throughout the history of the picture book in different cultures, and reading a picture book itself with contemporary literary theories and a semiotic point offer an optimal solution to interpretate various signs and understand communication of a picture book.
