유아 과학교육과 수학교육의 통합적 접근을 위한 기초 연구 = The Integration of Science and Mathematicsin Early Childhood Education

The integration of science and mathematics teaching and learning has received much attention in current education reform documents. Science and mathematics are naturally and logically related in the real world. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a theoretical rationale, a model for integrated science and mathematics learning for young children, a procedure for classroom applications, and implications on the integration of science and mathematics for pre-service teacher education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

정보화 및 첨단 과학기술 사회로 전환됨에 따라 사회적 요구로써의 과학적, 수학적 소양과 능력이 점차 중요시되고 있으며, 이에 따른 효율적 교육방안으로 수학과 과학교육의 통합적 적용이 최근 재조명을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 유아과학교육과 수학교육의 통합적 접근을 위한 이론적 타당성을 검토하는 작업의 일환으로 두 학문 교과의 특성을 살펴보았고; Piaget, Vygotsky, Bruner, Gardner의 발달 이론적 측면에서 두 교과의 통합적 접근의 근거를 고찰하였으며; 통합적 접근을 위한 순환적 교수­학습모형에서의 구체적 적용을 제시하였고; 마지막으로 유아 과학과 수학교육의 통합적 접근을 위해 교사교육에서 반영되어야할 사항을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 과학과 수학교육의 통합적 적용을 위해 보다 깊이 있는 사고와 의미 있고 활용적인 구체적인 교수­학습방법의 모색을 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
