행동유형론(대인관계 중심의 성격유형론) 정립을 위한 경험적 연구 = BEHAVIORAL TYPOLOGY An Experiential Study for Establishing Personality Typology Focused on Interpersonal Domain

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1990년 이후 국내에서 활용되고 있는 성격유형 측정도구인 MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)는 심리교육의 새로운 방법들을 제공함으로써 상담심리학의 영역확장에 기여한바 크다. 그러나 MBTI사용자들은 성격유형 설명내용의 한국적 타당화와 워크샾 효율화에 관해 많은 관심을 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 주요 유형론과 특성론의 이론적 검토를 통해 대인관계 중심의 4유형(ET, EF, IF, IT)에 의한 새로운 성격유형론을 구성하였다. 또한 1994년부터 2001년까지 8년에 걸쳐서 국내의 4만 여명의 성인남녀를 대상으로 4유형 워크샾을 실시하였다. 이 과정에서 수집한 유형별 성격특성자료와 연구자의 관찰결과를 정리하였다. 그 결과 대인상호작용 중 관찰단서인 언어행동적 특징과 내면적 심리기제를 추측할 수 있는 성격특징들을 체계화함으로써 MBTI와는 독립된 새로운 성격유형론의 이론적 기초를 확립하였다. 연구자는 이상의 과정을 거쳐 만들어진 이론을 "행동유형론"이라 명명하고 주도, 표출, 우호, 분석의 4가지 유형으로 구분하였다. 이러한 행동유형론은 실용성과 효율성을 중시하는 심리교육과 성인교육에 다양한 대안을 제공할 수 있을 것으로 보여진다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), the measure of personality types, having been used since 1990 in Korea, has much contributed to expanding the practical application of it through providing such novel methods in the area of psychological education. Yet MBTI users have interests in the Korean validation of the contents that explain personality types as shown by MBTI on guideline and in the effectiveness of the Workshops held for MBTI. This study established new personality typology by suggesting four types (ET, EF, IF, IT) focused on interpersonal domain through reviewing research literatures of prevailing theories on typology and major trait theories. And over eight years from 1994 to 2001, workshops on the four types have been held with about 40,000 adults of both sexes in domestic area.
Researcher put the data on the personality traits according to four types and on the observation results collected in these processes in good order systematically. Consequently, researcher could firmly establish the theoretical basis of new personality typology independent of MBTI, through organizing such factors of linguistic-behavioral peculiarities as observational cues and personality characteristics as might suppose inner psychological mechanisms in interactions. Researcher labeled new typology validated in Korea as 'Behavioral Typology' suggesting four types such as Driving, Expressive, Amiable, and Analytical. This Behavioral Typology seems to provide various alternatives in the areas of psychological education and adult education which place a high value upon practicability and effectiveness.
