유아 다문화 교육과 관련한 국내 연구 동향에 관한 소고 = Analysis on Children's Multicultural Education Research Trend

The purpose of this research is to develop the children's multicultural education related studies and to discover efficient ways to practice children's multicultural education system through providing basic data from the National Assembly Library. 92 masters' theses and doctoral dissertations and 36 articles from journals are provided and divided into three areas of research trend, method and topic for further analysis. Analysis showed that out of 128 research papers, 103 papers(80.4%) were based on quantitative research which proved that much of the research put more emphasis on quantitative research. Change in research trend toward such quantitative research occurred drastically after year 2000 with 120 papers(91.3%) compared to only 8(8.7%) before 2000. Furthermore, the object of study for research papers related to children's multicultural education were comprised as the following: 84 papers on child (75%), 19 papers on teachers(13%), 4 papers on parents(3.2%), and 21 papers on literature(8.7%). The topics frequently discussed in the 128 research papers were: programs on multicultural education with 80 papers(62.5%), 8 on teacher's awareness on children's multicultural education(6.2%), 6 on characteristics and behaviors of children from multicultural family(4.6%), 2 on multicultural family environment(1.5%), and 2 on parent's awareness on multiculture(1.5%). Such research shows improvement in children's multicultural education environment in the field of children's education after the 1997 Korean Nationality Act. In addition, the research implies the importance of a practical R&D(research and development) with a balance of quality and quantity and government and community support in improving the educational environment in which active alternatives are applied to create a creative, diverse and anti-biased environment for children's education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아 다문화교육과 관련된 국내 논문의 연구 동향에 대한 고찰을 통하여 유아 다문화교육의 연구수행을 돕기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 다문화교육과 연관된 논문을 연구대상으로 하여 연구방법, 연구대상, 연구주제 등으로 구분하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 유아 다문화교육 관련한 연구는 2000년 이전의 8편(8.7%)이던 것에 비교하면, 2000년 이후 120편(91.3%)으로 늘어나 괄목할 만한 변화가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 다문화 관련 논문의 연구의 방법으로는 총 분석 논문 128편 중 103편(80.4%)이 양적연구에 편중되어 있었으며, 유아 다문화교육 관련 연구의 주요대상은 유아가 84편(75%)이었으며, 분석대상 논문에서 다루어지는 주요 주제의 75.0%는 유아 다문화교육프로그램 구성 및 효과에 대한 연구로 전체 중 80편을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 유아교육현장이 편견 없는 창의적 사고와 다양성을 경험의 장으로써 유아의 실제 생활과 분리되지 않은 교육 및 연구가 이뤄지기 위하여 연구의 대상과 연구 방법 및 연구주제 측면에서 보다 균형 잡힌 연구풍토가 조성되어야 함을 시사한다. 이와 함께 유아 다문화교육과 관련된 지속적인 탐색이 이루어지기 위한 연구과제에 대하여 연구결과를 기초로 하여 논의하였다.
