A Study on the Relationship of Family Environment Variables and Temperament to Prosocial Behavior among Young ChildrenNam, Young-OkThe purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the family environment variables and temperament of young children to their prosocial behavior.The subjects in this study were 300 young children who were at the age of 4 to 5 in American age and attended five daycare centers and three kindergartens in the city of Daegu.As a result of investigating the young children, their prosocial behavior was significantly different in part according to their family environment variables, and their temperament was partially correlated to their prosocial behavior as well. Given the findings of the study, older preschoolers excel younger ones in daycare-center adaptability, interpersonal skills and an ability of regulating their own emotion. And those who were more inclined to have themselves under control not to do what's forbidden behaved in a more prosocial manner.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 유아의 가정 환경 변인과 기질이 유아의 친사회적 행동과 어떠한 관계가 있는지 알아보았다.연구대상은 대구시에 소재한 5곳의 어린이집과 3곳의 유치원에 다니고 있는 만4~5세 유아 300명을 대상으로 하였다.연구 결과, 유아의 가정 환경 변인에 따라 유아의 친사회적 행동은 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났고 유아의 기질과 유아의 친사회적 행동과의 관계에서도 부분적으로 상관이 나타났다. 연구 결과에 비추어 볼 때 유아의 연령이 높을수록 유아교육기관 적응능력, 대인관계 형성능력, 개인정서 조절능력이 더 높은 것으로 나타났으며 유아의 기질의 하위 요인 중 금지통제적 성향이 높은 유아는 친사회적 행동을 보인다고 할 수 있다.
