유아 읽기 지도에 관한 이론적 고찰 = A Theoretical Review on Reading Instruction for Young Children

국문 초록 (Abstract)

읽기 발달의 기초는 유아기에 마련이 되며, 이 시기의 읽기 발달의 차이가 장․단기적인 영향을 미치게 된다. 그러므로 이 시기에 읽기 발달을 촉진시켜줄 수 있는 경험을 제공하고, 적절한 지원을 해주어서 유아가 능숙하게 읽을 수 있을 뿐 아니라 읽기를 즐기는 독자로 자라도록 도와주어야 한다. 이를 위하여 유아기에 어떤 기초가 마련되어야 하는지 또한 읽기 지도에서 어떤 요인들이 고려되어야하는 지를 알아보는 것이 필요하다. 연구 결과들에 의하면, 읽기 지도는 유아의 어휘 습득을 도와주고, 음소인식 능력을 키워주며, 쓰기를 격려하고, 읽을 기회를 제공하며, 가정과 유치원이 연계하여 지도하며, 읽기에 대한 흥미를 유발하고 지속시키도록 하는 것과 같은 다양한 내용을 포함해야 한다.

The foundation of reading development is established during early childhood period. Reading development varies for individual children and the differences in children's reading development have a short- and long-term influences on their reading competence.
Therefore, it is important to provide meaningful literacy experiences and support children's reading development at home and at kindergarten so that they can read fluently and enjoy reading throughout their lives.
This study reviews a body of literature to investigate the factors which affect children's reading development. The result suggests that reading instruction needs to foster vocabulary development, phonemic awareness, and writing development; to provide frequent opportunities to read; to encourage family involvement; and to promote children‘s motivation to read.
