인적자본과 사회적 자본 -한국 경제성장의 재해석- = Human Capital and Social Capital -Reinterpretation of Korean Economic Growth-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study tries to reinterpret the case of the Korean economic growth by considering some critical issues of the relationship between human capital (HC) and social capital (SC). This study firstly shows the key arguments of criticism of East Asian `economic miracle` from the growth accounting theory, and secondly explains why this debate is linked to the issue of relationship between HC and SC. For theoretical issues, this paper discusses several critical points concerning HC and SC, such as the discrepancy between private return and social return of HC, the difference between productivity effect and pure signalling effect of education, and the degree of various nonmarket benefits from HC. Finally, this paper examines why social institutional efficiency is important in bringing HC and SC in a more productive relationship for the socio-economic development.
