The Purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of self-reliant living of the elderly in the casual model in the relationship satisfation with adult children and the level of the support given by adult children perceived by the elderly parents, and the elderly’s quality of life. The data were collected by face to face interview using the structured questionnaire. The respondents were the elderly 65 years of age or older and the data of 563 elderly responts were analysed. This study used the approach of multi-group simultaneous analysis within the framework of structural equation modeling to explore the moderating effect the level differences of the self-reliant living. This procedure was used to test metric invariance and structural invariance of the proposed model. The result showed self-reliant living partially to have moderating effects in this study model. Ecomomic self-reliance moderated the route between the support given by adult children and the relationship satisfaction with adult children. Physical self-reliance moderated the route between the relationship satisfaction with adult children and the quality of life of the elderly
