After World War II, human-rights education was emphasized in not only all grades of school education but also every social education. but in Korea, human-rights education was deemphasized in secondary social studies, at most treated as sub-content in social studies, what is worse, human-rights education was not treated in elementary social studies at all. Fortunately, human-rights education will be introduced in 7th curriculum of elementary social studies for the first time, from now on, if human-rights education in elementary social studies be fruitful, special regard should be paid to cognitive developmental context of learners and social-cultural context and context of learning content.
