유아 문식성 습득에 대한 어머니의 신념 = Mother's Beliefs about Literacy Acquisition

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study was to investigate the mother's beliefs about literacy acquisition. Subjects for this study were 176 mothers of kindergarten. 25-item questionnaire used in this study was constructed by Westwood, Knight and Redden(1997). Collected data were analyzed by means of each item, and by one-way ANOVA to verify the differences of mother's beliefs according to an academic background, an occupation , an income and mothers' age.
The major findings were the most mothers showed balanced approach: more skill-based about reading than writing. And the university and graduated school graduates take more meaning-based, child-centered approach than finisher of college and High school. According to occupation, more the professional kept more meaning-based approach. Finally there were no meaningful difference in an income and mothers' age.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 문식성 습득에 대한 어머니의 신념에 대해 알아보고 그 신념이 어머니의 사회문화적 배경(학력, 직업, 연령, 수입)에 따라 차이가 있는지를 살펴보기 위하여 서울에 소재한 유치원에 다니는 유아의 어머니 176명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 연구의 도구는 Westwood, Knight, & Redden(1997)이 개발한 25문항의 질문지를 수정하여 사용하였으며 자료분석을 위하여 일원분산분석을 하였다. 연구결과, 어머니들의 문식성 습득에 대한 신념은 대체적으로 균형잡힌 언어교육의 신념을 나타내었으며 읽기보다 쓰기 교육에서 더 의미중심적인 신념을 보였다. 어머니의 학력에 따라서는 학력이 높은 어머니가 더 의미중심적인 신념을 나타내었고 4년제 대학이나 대학원을 졸업한 어머니와 전문대를 졸업한 어머니 사이에 차이가 있었다. 어머니의 직업에 따라서는 전문직에 종사하는 어머니가 사무직이나 판매직에 종사하는 어머니보다 더 의미중심적인 신념을 가진 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 어머니의 연령과 수입에 따라서는 유의한 차이를 나타내지 않았다.
