The purposes of this study are to analyze relationships among child care teacher's general background, professional recognition and job attitudes, and to identify the effects of child care teacher's general background and professional recognition on job attitudes.
The study participants were 398 child care teachers in 67 child care centers in Pusan and Kyungnam areas. They completed a survey questionnaire composed of 'teacher's professional recognition scale' and 'teacher's job attitude scale' (teacher's job satisfaction, burnout, leave intention, organizational commitment). The data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation and hierarchical regression.
The major findings of this study are as follows:
First, the job attitude variable has significant relationships with teacher's age, marital status, years of working experience, teaching hours, wage, institution type, in-service training experience, health condition, and professional recognition and job attitude. Also there is a significant relationship between teacher's professional recognition and organizational commitment. Second, teacher's self-regulation is the most important predictor in child care teacher's job attitudes.
