    The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Mother-Infant Interaction Rating Scale by Miller(2000), which was modified by researcher. An additional goal was to examine how features of the interactional context influence infant and mother behavior. The subjects of this study consisted of 30 mother-infant dyad. Data were collected by videotaping the mother and infant while playing together at laboratory. Two raters scored independently mother and infant interaction by each of the items of Mother-Infant Interaction Rating Scale on a 4-point Likert scale. The results were as follows.<br/>
    The Mother-Infant Interaction Rating Scale had sufficient inter-raters reliability. It was compared with MBRS /CBRS and verified a concurrent validity. The four contexts differed along two dimensions: 1) attentional focus of the situations, and 2) level of regulatory challenge. Findings were that contextual effects in behavior depend on which behaviors are assessed and on which dimensions of the interactional context are altered.
