김수영 시의 ‘몸’과 그 의미 = The Body and the Meaning of it in Kim Soo-Young's Poetry

Kim Soo-young had grown up in cultural environment where the Oriental solemnity is thoroughly kept. In such aspect, the fact that he showed profound speculation on the body is a very important matter. He represented the process of existence's being incorporated into the world and the discord during that process through the symptoms of the body. This seems to be the result of his will to seek the communication with the world. Like this, the body in his poetry actively participates in the world and has dynamic relation with others. Consequently, the body is not an extension substance nor a physical object. What Kim Soo-young shows through tiredness and pain of the body is the body as ultimate mode of existence. The body became the starting point of putting an end to modern dichotomy such as culture and nature, male and female, the West and the East, etc enlarged and reproduced on the basis of the dichotomy of the body and the soul and reading the homogeneousness and difference of all existences at the same time. This is also the starting point of overpassing the modern ages. Therefore, the body is the most ultimate place of understanding the world. The modernity and avant-garde and experimental sense of Kim Soo-young's poetry are based on the discovery and experience of the body.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

김수영은 동양적 엄숙주의가 철저히 지켜지는 문화적 환경에서 자라고 성장했다. 그런 면에서 김수영이 ‘몸’에 대한 깊이 있는 사유를 보여주었다는 사실은 매우 중요한 사건이다. 김수영은 몸의 증상을 통해 존재가 세계에 편입되는 과정과 그 과정에서의 불화를 보여준다. 이것은 세계와의 소통을 추구하려는 의지의 결과로 볼 수 있다. 이처럼 김수영 시에서 몸은 적극적으로 세계에 참여하고, 타자와 역동적인 관계를 맺는다. 따라서 몸은 연장(延長) 실체가 아니며 물리적인 사물이 아니다. 김수영이 몸의 피로와 아픔 등을 통해 보여주는 것은 근원적 존재 양식으로서의 몸이다. 이때의 몸은 정신과 몸의 이분법을 토대로 확대 재생산된 문화와 자연, 남성과 여성, 서양과 동양 등의 근대적 이분법을 종식하고 모든 존재의 동질성과 차이를 동시에 읽을 수 있는 출발점이 된다. 그것은 근대 넘어서기의 출발점이다. 그러므로 김수영 시에서 몸은 세계를 이해하는 가장 근원적인 장소라고 할 수 있다. 김수영 시의 현대성과 전위적이고 실험적인 감각은 육체성의 발견과 체험을 바탕으로 한 것이다.
