유치원에서의 도서대여 방법이 만 4세 유아의 읽기, 어휘 및 읽기 흥미에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Book Lending on Children's Reading, Vocabulary, and Interest on Reading

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated the effects of book lending on young children's reading, vocabulary, and interest on reading. Research questions were as follows:
1) What are the effects of book lending on 4-year-old children's reading ability?
2) What are the effects of book lending on 4-year-old children's vocabulary development?
3) What are the effects of book lending on 4-yeard-old children's interest on reading?
The subjects for this study were 44 4-yeard-old children who were attending S kindergarten in Seoul. 22children were in experimental group and 22 in the comparison group. Both groups had similar home literacy environments.
The book lending program was carried out for a 8-week period. To measure children's reading, Sulzby's(1986) Reading Inventory was used. Vocabulary was evaluated by the Picture Vocabulary Inventory by Kim Young Tae(1994), et al. and Interest on Reading was evaluated by the Primary Pupil Reading Attitude Inventory by Askov(1973). The data were analyzed by Mean, SD, and ANCOVA with SPSS/PC program.
The findings were as follows: 1) The book lending program increased children's reading ability. 2) The book lending program improved children's vocabulary development. 3) The book lending program promoted children's interest on reading.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유치원에서의 도서대여 방법에 따라 유아의 읽기, 어휘, 읽기 흥미가 어떻게 달라지는지를 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 만 4세 유아 44명이며, 이들 중 22명은 실험집단으로, 22명은 비교집단으로 연구에 참여하였다. 실험집단 유아들에게는 8주 동안 도서대여를 하면서 부모에게 책읽기와 관련된 가정통신문과 체크리스트를 함께 사용하였으며, 비교집단에게는 도서대여만 실시하였다. 읽기 발달 검사는 Sulzby(1985)의 읽기 능력 검사를 실시하였으며, 어휘력 검사는 김영태 외 3인(1995)이 제작한 그림 어휘력 검사를 사용하였고, 읽기 흥미는 Askov(1973)의 Primary Pupil Reading Attitude Inventory를 사용하였다. 연구 결과를 살펴보면 도서대여는 유아의 읽기, 어휘 및 읽기 흥미도를 향상 시켰으나 부모의 참여를 보다 적극적으로 독려한 실험집단 유아들이 도서대여만 실시한 비교집단보다 더 많이 향상되었다.
