Although regulated by political and economical conditions, post-war cultural environment had several signs that show possibility of creative changes, having relative autonomy. Publication, media, censorship, literary circle, organization and reorganization of aca- demism, which were done by national literary policy, were the factors that drove literature field to be changed. As a result, it was inevitable new and old literature opposed and conflicted each other in that process.
The magazine Munhakyesul existed in the process of transforma- tions mentioned above and played important roles in making changes to work positively. Although anti-communism believed by cross the 38th parallel line literature man formed base line of Munhakyesul, their special idea direction made it possible to join overall parts of literature together and actively accept foreign cultures. And this played great roles in having new modern literature, originally being out of culture system, existed in culture system. Especially it is very important that Munhakyesulaccepted hosts of foreign literature experts by actively using the system called ‘Chucheonje’ and made foundation of transla- tion literature. In short, Munhakyesulwas the literature magazine that played critical roles in accepting advanced foreign cultures by means of culturism in the process of reorganizing post-war literature field and formed cultural background.
