Mathematics educators emphasize the development of spatial ability because spatial abilities and mathematics skills are interdependent. Similarly, movement educators believe that spatial ability is important because children with acute spatial abilities are able to move more safely in physical environment.
This study discussed the relevance of spatial ability to learning in mathematics and movement education. Since movement education and mathematics share a complementary focus on the development of spatial ability, this study proposed an integrated program for enhancing young children's spatial ability through the use of overapping concepts related to spatial ability. For the proposed program, the goal and objectives as well as the content of program were presented. Instructional methods and evaluations were also provided.
