This study was to investigate the teachers' perception and reality of free-choice activities at indoor and outdoor in preschools. Subject consisted of 128 preschool teachers of 3-to 6-year-old children at Kangnung, Tonghae, and Samchok city in Kangwon-Do. Teachers were asked to rate the degree to which they agreed on the each item.
The results indicated that teachers tended to view the objective of free-choice activity as the time which children could feel satisfaction and accomplishment. They considered their role as praising on children's desirable behaviors or supporting children's engagement in activity. Most teachers were not likely to provide the opportunities for children to work in outdoor activities.
