One of the major objectives of this study is to define and explain the Consumer's acts in Green tourism. This was achieved through a comparison with the guests of Traditional tourism. Here, the specific research questions were: (1) Are there any differences in the sociodemographic characteristis of the guests of Green tourism and Traditional tourism systems? (2) Are there any differences in the travel trip characteristics of the guests of Green tourism and Traditional tourism systems? (3) Are there differences in the vacation activities, travel attitudes, and benefits experienced by the guests of Green tourism and Traditional tourism system?
This study has found that the guests of Green tourism system are different from Traditional tourism guests based on a number of sociodemograghic and travel trip characteristics and on their vacation activities and attitudes toward travel. They appear to be better educated, to have higher incomes, and to be more likely to have managerial, professional, or executive position. Green tourism guests's trip purposes are different from those of traditional tourism guests. Their party sizes are smaller, and they tend to spend more time planning their trips and to book them further in advance. They also use different information sources when making travel decisions.
Green tourism guests pursue different activities than Traditional tourism guests while on vacation. They appear to favor nonbeach-related outdoor recreation activities. Green tourism guests tend to have more positive perception of receiving excellent value for money and good accommodations than the users of traditional accommodations during travel.
In addtion, there is also a need to examine in greater depth the proposition that green tourism are more compatible with the principles of ecologically sustainable tourism than Traditional tourism formats.
