대학 다문화교육과 대학생들의 다문화 인식: 다문화이해 관련 교양 강좌 수강생들을 중심으로 = The Actual Conditions of ‘Understanding Muliculture’ Lecture and the Attendees’ Consciousness on Multiculture at the University

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 대학 다문화교육의 현황과 대학생들의 다문화 인식 및 태도를 살펴봄으로써 향후 대학 다문화교육의 방향을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 구체적인 분석 대상은 2011년 교양교과목으로 개설된 제주대학교 다문화이해 강좌 수강 학생들이다.
특히, 수강 학생들의 학기초와 학기말 인식 및 태도의 차이를 살펴봄으로써 다문화교육의 효과를 개략적으로 살펴보았다. 분석결과 다문화 관련 강좌 수강을 통해 학생들의 다문화에 대한 관심도가 높아졌고 교과목 수강 이후 다문화 관련 활동에 참
여하겠다는 의사를 보인 학생들이 많아진 것으로 나타나, 다문화 관련 강좌 수강이 학생들의 다문화 관련 활동 참여 의사에 긍정적 효과를 미친 것을 알 수 있다. 다음으로 학기초와 학기말 다문화 관련 인식과 태도 변화를 살펴본 결과, 학기말의 인식
과 태도가 높아진 것으로 나타나, 다문화교육이 인종·민족·다문화가정에 대한 인식과 태도에 긍정적 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 대학 교육과정에서 다양한 수준의 다문화 관련 강좌들이 개설될 필요가 있다. 그리고 교과목 수강 동기에 따라 학생들의 다문화 관련 인식과 태도에 차이가 있는 것으로 보아, 학생들이 직접 참여하고 체험할 수 있는 대학 내 혹은 지역사회와 연계한 다문화 관련 활동 프로그램들을 마련해나가야 할 것이다

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article is a kind of the current view-like argument to discuss multicultural education at the university. In particular, this study investigate the attendees’ multiultural consciousness of understanding multiculture chair at Jeju
National University in 2011. This result of this study showed some implication as follows: Firstly, even the research period lasted only one semester, the consciousness and attitude of students on Munliculture were changed to very positive direction. Secondly, there was some differences between men and women. The
concern of a female was higher than male. The students’ interest on multiculture was higher than the beginning of the semester through taking the chair of understanding multiculture. Therefore, it is needed to be opened the courses of understanding multiculture at university. And, it needs that diverse programs and courses related to multiculture are opened inside and outside of university,
because students’ consciousness and attitude on multicultures differ according to taking the course of students.
