This study was conducted with 150 high-grade children participating in a dance program at an elementary school in Gangwon-do as an effort to improve elementary school children`s understanding of themselves and others. For this purpose, we analyzed the effect of their participation in a dance program on improvement in interpersonal relation, and drew conclusions as follows. First, in the elementary school children, the effect of participation in a dance program on their self-esteem was not different according to their grade. Second, in the elementary school children, the effect of participation in a dance program on their interpersonal relation was somewhat higher in 4th graders. Third, the children`s self-esteem was in a significant correlation with their satisfaction with interpersonal relations, showing influence of 50% on the satisfaction with interpersonal relations. In addition, satisfaction with interpersonal relations showed influence of 51.6% on self-esteem.
