The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-directed learning program for college students on self-directed learning ability, problem solving, and academic achievement. The study involved an sample of 51 experimental subjects and 51 control subjects, of whom were college students majoring in Early Childhood Education. The self-directed learning program was proceeded for 14 weeks during the course work, The data collected after experiment carried out ANCOVA with covariate as a pretest score. The result were as follows. The self-directed learning program was positive influenced on self-directed learning ability and problem solving, but there were little of effectiveness on academic achievement. Therefore, it was suggested that various self-directed learning program would developed for students that have lack of self-directed learning and practical experiences.
