교양과정으로서의 디자인교육에 대한 방향성 탐구 = Exploration of Directions on the Design Curriculum for Liberal Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Although the college liberal education has an important place amidst the diverse innovations that are currently iterated in universities in Korea. In particular, the design studies, through which the educational goal of creative fostering of talents could be met, are focused on the effective role and value as a liberal education. To this end, first, through a theoretical consideration with respect to the general meaning and purpose of liberal education, the design-related organization and contents that are encompassed in the liberal arts education are examined. Second, the goals and objectives of the liberal education that is currently practiced in universities in Korea are reviewed, for which, by examining the types of subjects that are related to art and design, the current status of design education in the liberal education at national universities is observed, and the problems are analyzed. And third, using the observed contents to date as the basis, as the directions for design liberal education, the three contents of aesthetic literacy education, creative improvement education and fusion-type education are proposed and their possibilities are discussed. This study limits as the scope of study the design liberal education that is tailored for the non-major students, and, further, this study attempts to solidify the assertions and positions about the application as a fusion-type education and effective aesthetic education for the cultivation of creativity. As such, based on the results of this study, we hope that multifaceted research on the development of design liberal education for a fusion education for creative future knowledge would be accomplished.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현행 국내대학에서 진행되는 혁신 가운데 대학의 교양교육은 중요한 영역으로 자리 잡고 있지만, 다양한 과도기적 혼란과 문제점이 있는 것도 사실이다. 본 연구는 창의적 인재양성이라는 교육적 목표가 부합될 수 있는 교양교육으로서의 디자인이 가지고 있는 효과적인 역할과 가치에 주목하였다. 따라서 디자인 교양교육에 대한 국내대학의 현황을 고찰하고 분석하여 그 방향성에 대하여 논의하였다.
이를 위하여, 첫째, 일반적인 교양교육의 의미와 목적에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통하여 디자인 관련 교양교과목 편성과 내용을 살펴본다. 둘째, 국내 교양교육의 목적과 목표를 검토하고, 그 가운데 디자인관련 교과목의 유형을 살펴봄으로써 국내대학의 교양교육에서 디자인교육의 현황과 문제점을 분석한다. 셋째, 이제까지 고찰된 내용을 바탕으로 디자인 교양교육이 나아갈 방향으로서 미적 소양 교육, 창의 향상 교육, 융합형 교육이라는 세 가지의 내용을 제시하고 그 가능성에 대하여 논의한다. 본 연구는 비전공자를 대상으로 한 디자인 교양교육을 연구의 범위로 한정하며, 융합형 교육으로서의 적용과 창의성 함양을 위한 효과적인 미적 교육으로서의 역할에 대한 주장과 위치를 공고히 하고자 한다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 교양교육에서의 디자인 관련 교과목의 구성과 내용에 대한 교육의 질적 향상과 함께, 창의적 미래지식 융합교육을 위한 디자인 교양교과목 개발에 대한 다각적인 연구가 이루어지길 기대한다.
