CJ 엔터테인먼트: 한국의 역동적인 문화를 해외시장으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국영화산업 분석과 CJ엔터테인먼트의 경쟁우위 전략과 해외시장 진출 전략을 분석함으로써 우리나라 영화산업의 당면한 현실을 탐색하고, 새로운 성장전략으로 해외시장 진출방안을 모색해 보는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구에서는 마이클 포터가 개발한 산업구조 분석을 위한 Five forces model과 산업경쟁력 분석을 위한 Diamond model을 이용한 사례분석을 시도하였다. 본 사례에서는 한국영화산업이 그 동안 환경변화에 따라서 투자, 제작, 배급으로 이루어지는 가치사슬(Value Chain)이 어떻게 변화해 왔는지를 정리하였다. 연구결과 한국 영화산업은 수익성이 비록 높지는 않지만 미래가치에 따라 지속적인 투자자본이 유입되고 있으며 대기업을 중심으로 배급과 상영 시장이 주도되고 있다. 따라서 빠르게 성장하고 있는 IT기술의 접목과 유능한 인재의 활용 그리고 많은 중소 제작기업의 활발한 제작활동은 국내 영화산업의 핵심성장 동인이 될 수 있으며 이를 기반으로 해외시장에 적극적으로 진입할 필요가 있음을 발견할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Korean film industry and investigate the new strategy for CJ Entertainment to gain competitive advantage in both domestic and global markets. Moreover, by examining the current status of the Korean film industry, this paper searched for methods of expansion into the foreign market as a growth strategy. Case studies have also been applied for further research. Porter's five forces model which analyzes the industry structure and the Diamond model which analyzes the industry competitiveness both forms the basis of this study.This paper reviewed how the four parts of the movie industry value chain, investment, production, distribution and screening, have changed along with the alterations in the environment. The results tell us that although the Korean film industry currently does not generate much profit, funds are being invested with respect to the future value. Especially, the major companies are taking the lead in the distribution and screening markets. Moreover, the rapid development of IT and the high quality of educated human resources are the core competency the Korean film industry has. In addition, lots of small-medium sized film-production firms can be the engine for the growth of the Korean film industry. Therefore, it is necessary to enter the global market with advantages of IT, human resource and plenty of film related firms.
