The most important characteristics of philosophical counseling are inspiring the counselee's subjectivity and fostering the counselee's ability to avoid or solve future problems on his/her own. Accordingly, philosophical counseling emphasizes issues regarding autonomy, a sense of independence more than anything else. In this context, it is understood that the counselee's will to observe and solve his/her own problem and subjective thinking are the most important. And philosophical counseling works on new bases such as equal sympathy, care, and mutual respect between the counselor and the counselee in other words different from the traditional counseling or treatment which were focused on the counselor.
This thesis, which understands the characteristics of philosophical counseling in this way, believes that there is a common side between philosophical counseling and the philosophy of starting from the self as well as sympathizing with others from Yang-ming Studies. Through this, the thesis suggests how Yang-ming studies speculation can be a useful strategy in philosophical counseling and provide a method necessary for philosophical counseling. To effectively approach this problem, this thesis focuses on philosophical thoughts from Yang-min Studies. Also this will be connected to self-finding, securing the subject, experience of the subject, and the subject of sympathy and apperception.
