흙놀이 활동이 유아의 정서지능에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Soil Play Activities on Kindergarten Children`s Emotional Intelligence

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of soil play activities on kindergarten children`s emotional intelligence. The subjects of this study were 50 five-year-old children who attended in two kindergartens in Gyeonggi-do. Children were assigned to a experimental and control group. The experimental group performed the 16 soil play activities during 8 weeks, while the control group participated in the ordinary kindergarten activities during the same period. The collected data was statistically analyzed by ANCOVA using SPSS 12.0 program. The results of this study showed significant differences between the experiment group and the control group in their scores of the perception and expression of self-emotion, the control of emotion and the suppression of impulse, the use of self-emotion, the perception and consideration of other` emotion, the relationship with teachers, and the relationship with peers. In conclusion, the soil play activities gave a positive effect on kindergarten children`s emotional intelligence.
