지적장애학생들의 자립과 성인생활에 필요한 기능적 생활기술 고찰 = A review of Literature study on functional Life skills of students with intellectual disabilities

There is a growing emphasis that special education for intellectual disabilities should focus on improving their academic and functional life skills to facilitate their transition from school to adulthood. In particular, knowledge acquisition and skill performance of life skills have been suggested in the research literature as one of the most important factors for successful independent lives of students with intellectual disabilities. The purpose of this study was to review the rationale and research literature on functional life skills of students with intellectual disabilities and provide necessary functional life skills which were essential to successful independent and adult lives of students with intellectual disabilities. A systematic search of the literature revealed 47 studies. The selected studies were analyzed in terms of the three life-skills domains such as residential and daily living domain, employment domain, and social and community living domain. Specific functional life skills were presented according to the three domains and 30 sub-domains in an attempt to suggest the best life-skills education practices for students with intellectual disabilities. Implications of the findings and recommendation for educational practice and future research on life-skills approach were suggested.
