This dissertation is focused on 1950s when North Korea and China were in the closest relationship and the fact that it was China People`s Volunteers that played central role in that relationship. This dissertation concretely examined the roles of China People`s Volunteers participated in the Korean War and remained after the truce. Also it examined the political-military and economic meanings of the remaining China People`s Volunteers as well as North Korea`s countermeasures after the full withdrawal of china people`s volunteers in 1958. Through these considerations, we were able to view the then North Korea-China relationships and dynamic moods of North Korean society in 1950s. The China People` s Volunteers had been stationed in the Korean Peninsula and the northen part of truce-line for 8 years from 19th Oct. 1950 to 28th Oct. 1958. The China People`s Volunteers participated in the war with up to 1,350 thousand add soldiers and more than 400 thousand soldiers in 34 divisions remained after the truce. After the truce, North Korea was able to concentrate its energies on postwar recovery work, depending its security on China People`s Volunteers. The stationing of China People`s Volunteers played highly important roles in the background of smooth progress in postwar recovery work and high growth in 1950s. But North Korea had to be borne as China People`s Volunteers completely pulled out in Oct. 1958.
