유아의 음악 영재성에 대한 고찰 = Identifying and Fostering Musical Giftedness

국문 초록 (Abstract)

음악영재성에 대한 올바른 개념정립은 유아 음악영재를 발굴하여 교육하는 음악영재 프로그램 개발에 가잠 기초적인 요소이다. 그런데 우리나라에서는 아직 유아를 대상으로 하는 음악영재교육이 시작의 단계이므로, 우선 음악영재성이 무엇인가 대한 포괄적인 개념정립이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 '유아의 음악적 잠재력 발굴과 계발을 통한 음악적 능력의 성취라는 유아 음악영재교육의 목표를 위하여 음악영재성 고찰에 대한 구체작인 작업으로서 첫째, 영재의 일반적일 정의와 특징을 문헌 조사하였고 둘째, 음악영재를 음악 신동이나 음악 천재와 같은 유사한 용어와 구별해 음악영재성을 규명하였으며 셋째, 규명된 음악영재성의 구체적인 활용 사례를 살피고자 현재 시행 중인 여러 나라의 음악영재교육 프로그램을 비교 검토하였다. 연구 결과, 음악영재성의 개념 차이가 유아음악영재 프로그램 차이를 초래할 수 있음이 유추되었고, 유아 음악영재성이란 매우 포괄적인 개념으로서 음악적 지각력이나 기억력, 창의성, 표현력 외에도 음악활동에 스스로 몰입할 수 있는 개인 내적 요소가 반드시 포함된다는 점이 강조되었기에, 결론으로서 유아음악영재 조기 발견을 위한 유아 음악영재의 음악적 행동특성을 구체적으로 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The ultimate goal of a musically gifted education is the achievement of musical ability through the identification and the development of one's musical potentiality. Given that goal, this study examines the definition and characteristics of gifted children in terms of the musical prodigy, musical genius and the features of musical capacity. Musical aptitude, musical ability and musicality are also considered. As well. musically gifted students' education programs in four countries including Korea are analysed in terms of program background, student selection process, and music curricular. The authors conclude that a comprehensive concept of musical giftedness among young children consists of personality traits in addition to musical perception, musical memory, musical creativity, and musical expression, and that musically gifted children's programs need be established based on these factors. As well, musical behaviors which would reveal musical giftedness are noted as a means of identifying musically gifted young children in mainstream teaching settings like preschools.
