신체경험에 관한 현상학적 연구의 이론적 및 방법론적 근거 = Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Phenomenology in Body Experiences

The purpose of this study was to review philosophical contexts of the studies dealing with somatic experiences and to explore the feasibility and the validity of "experiential description and analysis" that has been performed in somatic phenomenology.
Phenomenology in relation to physical activities has two types of implication;
First, phenomenology in association with physical activities provides an educational conceptual framework. Phenomenology in physical education deals with individual and subjective experiences. Phenomenological values in education underlies philosophical foundation in development of educational goals, objectives, curriculum, and so on.
Secondly, phenomenology provides methodological foundation in physical education. Phenomenology becomes an instrument to understand human movement and a way to go beyond the bounds that quantitative studies have set forth.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 현상학적 접근이라는 연구 하에 행하여진 체육·무용분야에서의 신체경험 관련 연구들이 특징적으로 함유하고 있는 이론적 근거로서의 사상적 배경에 대한 검토와 현상학적 관점에서 신체경험을 규명하는 연구기법으로서의 ‘체험적 기술과 분석’이 갖고 있는 방법론적 근거 및 타당성의 실체를 규명하고자 한다.
신체의 움직임을 매체로 하는 신체활동, 운동, 스포츠 등 광의의 체육활동과 관련지어 본다면 현상학은 다음의 두 가지 함축성을 제공하여 주었다고 할 수 있다.
첫째, 교육적 함의성이다. 체육에서 현상학이 규명하고자 하는 것은 주관적 체험이다. 특별히 살아있는 ‘인식 주체적 신체’의 체험은 교육의 주체인 개개인의 인격적 가치와 의미를 보다 주체적인 방향으로 고양시킬 수 있는 단초를 제공하고 있다는 것이다. 이 같은 체험의 교육적 가치 기반은 신체교육이 이루어지는 학교체육 현장에서의 목적과 목표, 교육과정의 내용과 방법에 관한 단초를 제공할 수 있다는 것이다.
둘째, 방법론적 차원에서 이해될 수 있다. 즉 현상학은 스포츠 혹은 신체활동의 본질적 근원들을 파헤치는 방법론적 도구로서 인간의 신체경험 현상을 규명하는 새로운 관점과 기법을 제시하여 주었다는 것이다. 체육에서의 전통적인 연구방법 형태인 계량적 접근이 갖고 있는 한계와 문제점을 극복하는 수단으로서의 현상학적 방법은 연구자들에게 있어서 매력적이었다고 할 수 있다.
