The purpose of this study is to explore policy directions for the extension of compulsory education in middle school.
In order to accomplish this objective, the related literatures including an analysis .of various statistics, previous studies related to compulsory education are reviewed and analyzed. The policy directions and tasks for the extension of compulsory education are as follows:
(1) Enlarging accomodational capacities in the middle school
(2) Improving educational conditions in the elementary school
(3) Setting up counterplans of the private middle schools
(4) Reinforcing special education
(5) Streamlining teacher education system and personnel management system
(6) Improving related administrative supporting system and expansion of financial requirements.
It goes without saying that this extension of compulsory education can not be realized unless enough financial support is secured.
