1. What is the conception of 'identy' and its nature in modern society? The socio -cultural character of an individual or a group is meant by the term 'identity' in modern society. Its chasracteristics are:
1) flexible and fragmentized,
2) expressed through the outward appearance and especially image coming from self-reflection.
2. Characteristics of identity expressed through fashion in modern society are:
1) expression of others-directed and flexible identity,
2) dynamic elasticity of sex identity, i.e. declarative or exterior opposition between both sexes gets decreased and has the socio-cultural significance of an essentially democratic move. Fashion today proceeds in part toward the breaking of the sex boundary.
Identity in modern society being placed in a new situation very different from the past, it generates a new possibility, a new style and a new model and a new form. Possibility of each subject or person broadly open to the establising of identity and variability produces lots of unstable identities in various images, but it also offers new circumstances in which each subject or person can re-establish one's individual identity. In that point the matter of fashion and identity in modern society needs further studies.
