중소기업의 기술학습과 기업성과 : 우리 나라 전자부품산업 1990-1995 = Technological Learning and Performance of SMEs : The Korean Electronic Parts Industry 1990-1995

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 우리 나라 전자부품산업의 중소기업 133개에 대한 1990년-1995년 기간의 자료를 이용하여, 기술학습의 영향요인을 규명하고 기술학습이 장단기적으로 기업성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구대상기간을 tl시기(1990년-1992년와 t2시기(1993년-1995년)로 구분하고 두 시기간의 차이를 비교정학적으로 분석하여 기존 기술학습연구를 확장하였다. 기술학습을 두 시기간의 기술능력 변화로 정의하고 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중소기업이 기술학습을 많이 하더라도 단기적으로 이익률이 높아지지는 않지만, 장기적으로 생존확률이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기술학습에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 최고경영자(CEO)의 지배업무경력, 최고 기술경영자(CTO)의 존재, 기업연륜(-), 기술연구소의 신규설립, 조작의 집권도 감소, 제품표준화 활동(-)과 외부의 자금지원이 규명되었다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 기술학습에 대한 이론적 함의, 실무적 함의와 향후 연구방향을 논의하였다.

This study empirically examins the antecedents and performance consequencies of technological learning of SMEs, based on the comparative static analysis of 133 SMEs in the Korean electronic parts industry during the period of 1990 -1995. The technological learning is operationalized as the difference of technological capabilities between t2 period(1993-1995) and t1 period(1990-l992). The technological learning does not change profitability of SMEs in the short-run, but increases the long-term viability of the firms. Further, the statistical analyses reveal significant associations between technological learning and such antecedents as characteristics of top management team(TMT), firm age(-), foundation of R&D center, decentralization, product standardization(-), and external financing. Finally, based on these results, this study discusses several theoretical and practical implications, and suggests future research directions.
