This study was to identify effects of individual- and social-related factors on game concentration and game addiction. For the purpose of this, relevant factors were categorized as individual trait-related factors (impulsivity and self-control), social-related factors (parent, peer, individualism, collectivism) and motives for game playing based on the previous studies. Then, it was investigated how these factors were related with game concentration and game addiction. The results of this study could be summarized as follows: First, in terms of motives for game playing, game concentration was predicted significantly by motives for challenge·achievement, aggression and reality·avoidance, whereas game addiction was predicted sigruhcantly by social motive and motives for challenge achievement, reality* avoidance and pleasure. Second, in terms of social related factors, game concentration was predicted significantly by individualism, parent encouragement, and parent prohibition, whereas game addiction was predicted significantly by peer relation and individualism. Third, in terms of individual trait-related factors, game concentration was predicted significantly by impulsivity and self-control, whereas game addiction was predicted significantly by impulsivity only. Fourth, in terms of factors of computer game playing, game concentration was predicted significantly by frequency of internet game playing, game addiction was predicted significantly by duration and frequency of internet game playing. In general, the findings of the present study showed that relevant factors are influencing on game concentration and game addiction differently, suggesting the possibility that factors influencing on game concentration and game addiction of adolescence could be differentiated. Implications for the further studies were suggested.
