Lee Chew-Hong was a regional writer who was born in Busan together with Kim Jung-Han. Particularly he is deserved to be called the very god-father who profoundly contributed to the development of Busan regional literature, children literature, and comedy literature. Despite to his great contribution to the development of regional literature, his reputation has been undervalued just because of his regional nativity. This paper has been gotten started from this agenda to stimulate and to escalate the extension of the interests in Lee Chew-Hong`s novels and his life. Here is succinct epitome of his literary world. First, researches on Lee Chew-Hong`s literary world has been increasingly expanded though, there still remain unexplored fields. His wholesome study should be extended to the comprehensive area in the context of a novelist, a children writer, a comedy writer as well as a comedy activist, and cartoonist. Secondly, Lee Chew-Hong has been deeply indulged in literary working since his entering literary world in 1928 to the very moment of death in 1987 for the sixty years of literary activity. In the early stage of his literary activity, he made efforts to the improvement of professional literary movement focused on children literature. On the other hand, from 1936 he was deeply lost in the creation of novels. After emancipation however, he separated himself from socialism and returned to the regional Busan: also contributed to the development of children literature : and productively produced. Thirdly as I have investigated Lee Chew-Hong`s literary works in the periodical perspectives of Japanese Occupation, Emancipation and Korean War as well as 1960s, providing the great significance of the progressive development of novel history in Korea. Thus his realistic characteristics in the works of novel should be reevaluated again in the light of the newly attempted exploration of the lives of the old in Korea.
