      유아영재의 진단과 교육프로그램 운영방법 = Gifted/Talented Young Children`s Diagnosis and Programming

      This paper was to discuss the nature and characteristics of the gifted/talented young children’s diagnosis and programming and to present the desirable direction and guidelines for young children’s gifted/talented education. Especially based upon the recent literature reviews across domestic and international circle, it was discussed in detail that the diagnosis methods and programming for early childhood were quite different from traditional identification and education intervention approaches. This paper also included the following main issues such as 1) the critical period of early childhood for diagnosing the gifted/talented students, 2) the necessity for adoption of dynamic, contextual, multidimensional assessment according to Gardner, Piaget, Vygotsky, Sternberg views of intelligence, and 3) introduction to a modal of gifted/talented diagnosis procedure. In addition, this paper introduced the eleven gifted/talented curriculum models that were appropriately applicable for young children’s gifted/talented programs. Finally, even though the gifted/talented education law was promulgated on Jan, 28,2000 in Korea, this act needs to revise in a near future because there was not in a word mentioned on contents related to the gifted/talented education for early childhood.

      This paper was to discuss the nature and characteristics of the gifted/talented young children’s diagnosis and programming and to present the desirable direction and guidelines for young children’s gifted/talented education.
