The purpose of this study is to examine how to achieve the artistic development of young children and how to improve teaching methods through the renewal recognition of theory of art education. The cognitive researcher of art education regards young children as competent symbolizers who shift first symbol to second symbol. The young children acquire main aesthetic ability around 7 years of age as a maker, perceiver or audience of art. Playing with art mediums such as music, visual art, dance, drama stimulate reflective action for thinking development. With Dewey’s artistic theory, Discipline-Based art education movement, Arts Propel show some practical teaching methods. The meaning of creativity emphasizes that art education should be understood as an active systematic teaching while self-expression should be seen as a cultivated self-expression and artistic management as projective. Also we should offer art criticism widening aesthetic perception to young children and supportive study context through teachers, parents, friends of young children.
