A rapidly increasing information base of the informational society has placed an increasing responsibility on learners for their own learning. Self-regulated learning (SRL) has become an important area of educational psychology. The purpose of this study is to identify the SRL that involves motivation, metacognition, and learning strategies in an interaction of personal, behavioral, and environmental triadic process. The purpose of this study also is to identify educational implications from the SRL theory. The SRL can be defined as motivational, meta-cognitive strategical, learning strategical self-monitoring under the self, behavior and environment. Regulation appears to have three components, such as motivation(self-control), metacogniton (thinking about thinking), learning strategies(mental activities). Regulation also appears to have three steps, such as preparation step(goal setting and strategic planning>, implementation steps(implementation monitoring), and self-evaluating steps (self-reflective and monitoring). Basic assumption of the SRL is based on the idea that learners are capable of monitoring, controlling, and regulating aspects of their own cognition, motivation, behavior, and context autonomically and linguistically. The method of the SRL is characterized by multiple strategies; metacognition, critical thinking, effort regulation, affect, application of appropriate learning strategies, resource management, peer-learning, help seeking. General strategies of evaluation for the SRL are interview, question, observation and teacher judge. It then concluded with educational implications from a learning motivational, strategical, and environmental self-control activities point view as follows: The SRL is self-motivational control learning. The SRL is self-strategical control learning. The SRL is self-environmental control learning. However, the SRL also be concerned with how curriculum be developed and managed effectively under supported learning environment including professional help of teachers.
