This study is based on Sonstroem(1978:1984)`s model and experimental studies, and experimental theses of Jung Chung-hee, Huh Jung-sik and Sung Chang-jun(1993) published in a small collection of studies on P.E. (Physical Education). The purpose of this study is to inspect if continuous dance education exerts a positive influence on self-perception and self-concept, and if there is a correlation between by comparing the difference of self-perception and self-concept between girl students who experienced continuous dance education and the others who didn`t among some 4th, 5th and 6th graders of elementary school. Among various psychological variables, self-respect is an important variable which is related to physical exercise, and a lot of studies including Sonstroem(1984)`s show that continuous physical exercise makes a clear improvement of self-respect, and they suggest the degree of change is remarkable. Although these results are not directly related to dance, but it implies a lot in that dance is in the same category of physical exercise. To identify the purpose of this study, the researcher selected a group of 101 elementary school girls who do not have any experience of dance education and the other groups of experienced students (A 46, B 32, C 33)- total 212 students. The researcher made a comparison between the two groups using Sonstroem`s simplified scale of perceiving one`s body(1974), and Rosenberg`s simplified scale of self-concept(1965). The test paper was filled by self-evaluation, and the data was analyzed by sub program of SPSS PC+, ccrrelation analysis and dispersed analysis. The results of the statistical analysis are summarized as follows. First, there is meaningful difference between self-concept of the two groups(p<.001), and there is also meaningful difference among the groups with experience of dance education in their concept of their body (p<.001) in the aspect strong body, cooperating power, sense of exercise, function, leadership, self-confidence, talent, timing, competence, muscular strength and competence except strength. Second, there is meaningful difference between self-perception of the two groups (p<.001), and there is also meaningful difference among the groups with experience of dance education(p<.001) in the aspect of satisfaction, quality, strong points, competence, pride, value, success and attitude except existence and self-pride. Third, there is meaningful difference in self-perception according to the experiencing period of continuous dance activity (p<.05). The group of more than 5 years` experience has the highest average score followed by the group of more than a year but less than 5 years` experience, and the group of more than six months but less than a year`s experience has the lowest score. Looking at the difference in sub areas of self-perception according to the experience of dance activity, there is meaningful difference in strong body, cooperating power, sense of exercise, muscular strength and competence except function, strength, talent and timing. Fourth, looking at differnce in self-concept according to the experiencing period of dance activity through post-inspection, the group of more than 5 years` experience has the highest score followed by the group of more than 6 months but less than 1 year`s experience, and the group of more than 1 year`s but less than 5 years` experience has the lowest score. There is no meaningful difference between the group of more than 6 months but less than 1 year`s experience and the one of more than 1 year`s but less than 5 years`experience. Looking at difference between sub areas of self-concept according to the experiencing period of dance activity, there is meaningful difference between the group of more 5 years` experience and that of less than five years` experience, and the group of more 5 years` experience has higher score in the aspect of quality, strong points, pride and value except satisfaction competence, existence, succes
