중등영어교사 연수 프로그램 분석과 교사들의 필요분석에 근거한 연수 프로그램 개발을 위한 제안 = Suggestions for developing a more efficient secondary English teachers' in-service program based on the analysis of existing programs and the needs analysis of secondary English teachers

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to make suggestions for developing more efficient secondary English teachers' in-service program. For the study in-service English teacher training programs in Chungbuk area were analyzed. Also, the needs analysis of secondary English teachers was conducted. For the needs analysis, a questionnaire was designed and 71 English teachers who had participated in in-service training programs returned the questionnaire. The results of the needs analysis showed that English teachers want to improve their English speaking ability through in-service training programs. They also want to develop more practical skills such as classroom English, reading/writing teaching methods, games and chants rather than learning theories on linguistics and English education. In general, they were satisfied with the in-service training programs they had participated in. However, some teachers wanted more extended and more intensive English program for developing their speaking ability. Also, they pointed out the need to control the quality of the lecturers, especially, native speakers of English. The new in-service program for secondary English teachers should reflect the needs of English teachers and should be a more participant-centered program.
