반성적 실행을 통한 사회과 교사자질 개선 = Improving teaching quality through reflective practice

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1980년대 이전까지 교사자질에 대한 연구의 대부분은 대학의 교수들에 의해 이루어 졌으며, 그 연구결과는 현장 교사들에게 전달되어 실천되는 것이 바람직하다고 생각하였다. 이에 대한 비판적 대안으로 1980년대 초에 제기된 ‘반성적 실행가로서의 교사자질’ 연구는 교사 스스로 자신의 교사자질을 개선해야 한다는 내재적 개선 방법에 토대를 둔다는 점에서 이전 연구들과 뚜렷한 차이를 보여주었다. 특히 Schon 이 제기한 반성적 실행가로서의 교사자질 연구는 교원양성 대학의 교육과정 진행 속에서 교사자질이 완성되는 것으로 생각하는 주류적 접근(CBTE나 Shulman의 접근)과는 달리, 교사가 자신의 수업 행위에 대해 반성적 실행을 함으로써 스스로 교사자질을 개선해 가는 것으로 보는 시각이다. 본 논문은 교사자질 개선 방안의 주요 관심사로 떠오른 Schon 이론이 오늘날 우리 교육현장에 필요한 이유와 사회과에서 적용 가능성을 모색하였다.

Before 1980s, the research on teacher competency has been conducted mainly by professors in university, however, the practical experience of teachers to improving teachers' Quality has not been stressed much. As an alternative in the early 1980s, there has been suggested 'teacher competency research based on reflective practitioners', and this perspective is differ from the early one in terms of the training of practical competencies. CBTE and Schulman's approach view that teacher can develop their competencies through the curriculum of teacher preparation institutes. Instead Schon's conceptions of 'reflective practice' implies that teachers can make an important contribution to their profession through the reflection on their practice to strengthen and develop its positive features, In this article, I discussed and suggested the theoretical background of Schon's reflective rationality and its implications for improving teacher competencies of social studies.
