현실요법집단상담이 청소년의 우울과 자살감소에 미치는 효과 = Effectiveness of a Reality Therapy-based Group Counseling Program on the Reduction of Adolescent？ Depression and Suicidal Ideation

This study was designed to examine the effects of a Reality Therapy-based group counseling program for adolescents who have depression and suicidal thought. For the purpose of the study, survey questionnaire was sent to the 434 adolescents enrolled in high school located in Daegu. Among the respondents with high level of depression, ho;eless, and suicidal ideation, 26 adolescents participated in the study. With the two-group pretest-posttest-followuptest design, the 10-sessions group counseling program was provided. Six instrument - Suidical Ideation Questionnaire(SIQ), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Beck Hopelessness Scale(BHS), Self-Esteem Scale(SES), Problem-Solving Inventory(PSI), Interpersonal Support Evaluation Scale(ISEL) - were administered to the subjects before and after the program. The same instruments were re-administered to the subjects one month after all the counseling sessions.
For the data analysis, frequency distribution, mean, and standard deviation were indicated. Methods of quantity analysis include independent samples t-test, paired samples t-test by comparing pretest-posttest and pretest-follow up test. Results indicated that the Reality Therapy-based group counseling program was effective in reducing suicidal ideation, depression, and hopelessness and in increasing self esteem, problem solving skill, and the perception of social support. Finally, the limitation and the suggestion of this study was discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 현실요법 집단상담 프로그램이 청소년의 자살충동 감소에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 데 있다. 대구광역시 소재 S고등학교에 재학 중인 청소년 434명을 대상으로 자살성향을 측정하는 설문조사를 실시하여, 그 가운데 자살충동, 우울, 무망감의 정도가 높은 상위 10%의 청소년들에게 프로그램 참가를 권유하였다. 최종 참가신청자 26명을 실험집단 13명과 통제집단 13명으로 무선 배정하여, 사전-사후-추후 검사 통제집단 설계로 진행되었다. 집단상담은 각 회기별 90분씩 매주 2회 총 5주간에 걸쳐 제공되었다. 프로그램 실시 전 실험집단과 통제집단의 동질성 검증을 위해 독립표본 t-검증을 실시하고, 프로그램의 효과 여부와 지속성을 확인하기 위해 사전-사후 검사 및 사전-추후 검사 대응표본 t-검증을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 현실요법 집단상담 프로그램은 청소년의 자살충동, 우울, 무망감, 자아존중감, 문제해결기술, 및 사회적 지지에 대한 인식에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
