부모의 이혼과 양육형태에 따른 초기 청소년의 우울증상과 학교적응 = Early Adolescents' Depression and School Adjustment: Relations with Parental Divorce and Parenting Practices

Using a sample of 231 early adolescents and their teachers, this article investigated the differences of depression and school adjustment between children from divorced and non-divorced families. Results suggest that early adolescents from divorced families perceive more authoritarian parenting practices than those from non-divorced families do. Generally, children from divorced families show more depressive symptoms and school adjustment problems than children from non-divorced families. Differences in children's adjustment problems between divorced and non-divorced families can be partially explained by parenting practices. Discussion and suggestions for future study are addressed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 우리사회의 이혼율이 급증함에 따라 부모의 이혼이 미성년자녀에게 미치는 부정적인 영향에 대한 관심이 늘고 있다. 특히 부모의 이혼에 따르는 스트레스는 청소년 우울의 주된 원인 가운데 하나로 논의되고 있다. 본 연구는 부모의 이혼여부, 자녀의 성별 및 연령에 따라서 초기 청소년의 우울증상과 학교적응이 차이를 보이는지 알아보았다. 또한 부모의 이혼여부와 양육형태는 초기 청소년의 우울증상을 어느 정도 예측할 수 있는지, 우울증상과 학교적응은 어떠한 관련성이 있는지 고찰하였다. 연구 결과 부모가 이혼한 가정의 초기 청소년은 그렇지 않은 가정의 초기 청소년보다 우울증상의 정도가 높았고 연령이 많은 집단이 적은 집단보다 우울증상의 정도가 높았다. 초기 청소년의 학교적응을 보면 부모가 이혼한 가정의 청소년이 그렇지 않은 경우보다 더 많은 행동문제, 대인관계문제, 사회적 부적응을 나타내는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 부모가 이혼한 청소년은 그렇지 않은 청소년에 비해 자신의 부모가 민주적이기보다는 권위주의적인 양육형태를 보인다고 여기는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 초기 청소년의 우울증상은 학교적응과 밀접한 상관관계를 나타내어 우울증상이 심할수록 학교적응이 어려운 것으로 밝혀졌다.
